Afternoon tea at Patisserie Valerie

Going for afternoon tea is something I've always wanted to do but just never seemed to get around to doing so when I recently saw an offer for one on Groupon that Ellie would be able to come along to as well I snapped it up. It was a voucher for afternoon tea for two at Patisserie Valerie.

We had a back-to-school shopping trip to Leeds recently so I took the voucher with us and it was something to look forward to once we had finished all the shopping.

It was quiet when we got there so we didn't have to wait for a table and the waitress quickly brought us our drinks order, we had these and another drink each and didn't have to pay any extra so I'm not sure how many drinks you can get with the afternoon tea.

The afternoon tea at Patisserie Valerie is served on a tiered plate stand and it had

  • Finger Sandwiches - cucumber on white bread, smoked salmon and cream cheese on brown bread, egg mayonnaise and cress on brown bread, ham, spinach and mustard on white bread and chicken, pesto and sunblazed tomatoes on brown bread. There were 2 of each sandwich so both people can have one of everything.
  • 2 mini vegetable quiche that were still warm when we had them.
  • two fruit scones and two plain scones served with a mini jar of strawberry and raspberry jam, clotted cream and butter.
  • One mini Victoria sandwich, two mini chocolate ├ęclairs, one mini carrot and walnut cake slice, one mini mixed berry mousse slice and one mini double chocolate mousse slice. As there were only one of each of the patisseries we cut them in half so we could both have a taste of everything.

All of the food was delicious. The sandwiches were fresh and had just the right amount of filling, the scones were perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth and all the mini cakes were gorgeous.

Unfortunately we couldn't finish everything but the waitress boxed all the left overs up for us to take home.

As this was my first afternoon tea I don't have anything to compare it to, but both me and Ellie really enjoyed it and would definitely go back to Patisserie Valerie for it again.
